PSEO Accuplacer FAQs

Developmental classes are not covered by PSEO as they are not college level.  Students are eligible to take the class at LSC but would be responsible for tuition/fees/books out of pocket.  Students typically elect to take Algebra 2 at high school to avoid the cost of taking a developmental class at LSC.

No, PSEO Students are required to establish their placement through a standardized test and cannot use the self-guided placements.  This is a MN Department of Education requirement.

If the student scores a 250 or higher, they will be eligible for admissions (pending submission of all other required documents). If you talk with a student in this situation, you can let them know we will reach out with next steps once they have been admitted. Please email with a quick note that you talked to the student and that they had got a score of 250+ on the Reading/English Accuplacer.

11^th and 12^th Students can retest 1 time per academic year.  If a student misses the 250 score, they can retest.  Students are encouraged to take time to utilize test prep materials before retesting.

10^th grade students who score lower than 250+ will not be eligible until their 11^th grade year.

The student can then register for a college level math class at LSC.  As usual, encourage them to share their plans with high school counselor/home school parent to make sure the LSC course will apply to high school as planned.

We do not require PSEO students to take the Math Accuplacer for admissions purposes.  If a PSEO student has completed Geometry and Algebra 2/Advanced Algebra with a grade of C or better, they are eligible to take a college level math class without taking the Accuplacer.  If the student has not met this requirement at high school and wants to take a college level math class, they would need to take the Math Accuplacer and place into college level math.

There are several groups of PSEO students who need to take the READING/ENGLISH portion of the Accuplacer for admissions purposes. These include:

• 10^th grade students who have not taken the 8^th grade MN Comprehensive Assessment (MCA). Homeschool students typically fall into this category.  These students will need a 250+ score for admissions.
• 11^th and 12^th grade students who did not meet the GPA requirements for admissions (3.0 for 11^th grade, 2.5 for 12^th grade). These students will need a 250 Accuplacer score in Reading/English AND a letter of support from their high school counselor.
