What is PSEO?
Minnesota’s Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program is a way to earn college credits while meeting your high school graduation requirements. It is designed for academically successful MN high school and home school 10th, 11th and 12th grade students.
PSEO is a fantastic opportunity that comes with some important responsibilities:
- The student is responsible for making sure their LSC classes meet high school graduation requirements. Collaboration and communication with the LSC PSEO Advisor and the high school counselor are keys to success.
- Grades earned as a PSEO student are a permanent part of the student’s official college transcript at Lake Superior College.
- PSEO students have the same expectations, requirements, and responsibilities as all college students.
At Lake Superior College, we care about student success, and we also know that, though exciting, sometimes the experience of being in college for the first time can bring surprising challenges. We want you to be as prepared as possible. When you’re in high school, you’re often given the information you need by teachers, expected to take in that information and demonstrate what you’ve learned through a variety of projects, including standardized tests. In college, however, you are expected to be an active contributor, engaging in classes, seeking available resources, and taking charge of your educational experience.
As a PSEO student are developing your first sense of educational responsibility and developing skills to be young adults. You are the captain of your own ship, and we want you to develop agency and self-advocacy skills; this will serve you well not just at LSC, but in life.
What follows spells out what is going to shift for you as a student moving to the college experience. Please explore this document and ask questions if something is unclear. This is the first step in your advanced educational journey: we believe in you!
