Student Program Eligibility

Eligibility requirements to participate in College in the Schools at Lake Superior College are as follows:

  • Sophomores must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher AND have scored “meets” or “exceeds” on the reading portion of the 8th grade MCA.
  • Juniors must rank in the top third of their high school class OR have a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Seniors must rank in the top half of their high school class OR have a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Course Placement

LSC will continue to include the option of using cumulative high school GPA for course placement. The student CITS application will continue to require students to self-report their GPA and, where applicable for Math, Chemistry & Physics courses, self-report their High School Algebra II grade.

Course Placement Options

  1. Cumulative HS GPA:
    • Reading & Writing: min. HS GPA of 2.6
    • Math/Chemistry: min HS GPA of 2.8 AND the completion of High School Algebra II with a grade of “C-” or above, OR
  2. Eligible ACT, SAT, and/or MCA scores, OR
  3. Eligible ACCUPLACER scores, OR
  4. Successful completion of a college-level course in the area for which the course placement score is used.

Registration

View the CITS registration form. Students MUST submit a form during the registration window to receive LSC credit. LSC staff manually enroll students into their courses after confirming eligiblity, so rosters in eServices will not have complete course lists available for review until the roster review period listed in Important Dates.

Course Evaluations

Two weeks before each course end date, all CITS students will receive an email (in the account listed at registration time) with a link to submit course evaluations. Instructors will receive a message notifying that this survey has been sent out. Please encourage your students to submit their feedback. This is an important element for our program accreditation standards.
