Lake Superior College is gearing up for the start of its fall semester with a special keynote presentation on Thursday, Aug. 23 for employees and the Duluth community by a former Minnesota Gopher/Timberwolves player who now motivates people around the world. The presentation is part of LSC Development Days for faculty and staff which include new faculty orientation, campus updates, and sessions on student learning.
Richard Coffey will speak from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 23 on Change, Attitude and Perseverance in the LSC Commons on the main campus. He will present on how to deal with personal and professional change. Representatives from community nonprofits have also been invited to attend. LSC President Patrick Johns will welcome faculty and staff at 8:30 a.m. prior to the speaker.
About the speaker: Richard Coffey is a native of North Carolina. He is a businessman and former professional athlete. Richard served three years in the United States Army as an Airborne Paratrooper—a member of the first to fight last to fall 82nd Airborne. Richard is a former University of Minnesota Gopher basketball player and ex-NBA Minnesota Timberwolf. After his stint in the NBA, he continued his basketball career by playing and coaching abroad in Europe and Asia. In his professional career, Richard has started multiple businesses, worked in corporate America, and has given presentations throughout the United States.
