Minnesota State Chancellor Devinder Malhotra to visit Lake Superior College on Monday to announce Workforce Development Scholarship Program

As an outcome of the 2019 legislative session, the Minnesota Legislature and Governor Walz approved an appropriation that added $7 million to a scholarship program for students at Minnesota State colleges and universities who are pursuing programs that prepare graduates for careers in high demand sectors, including healthcare, aviation and manufacturing. This action substantially expands a $1 million pilot program that initially awarded hundreds of scholarships throughout Minnesota in the 2018-2019 academic year. Lake Superior College Foundation will offer over $60,000 in workforce development scholarships this upcoming academic year, in addition to over $300,000 in traditional scholarships and grant offered annually by LSC Foundation. Students and potential students will be able to apply for workforce development scholarships beginning in August. More details will be discussed at the brief media event on Monday, July 8, 3:30 p.m., in S1981.
