Lake Superior College nursing students will celebrate the completion of the nationally-recognized program in a formal nurse’s pinning ceremony on Thursday, December 19, beginning at 5 p.m., to acknowledge their graduate status as professional nurses.
“Our traditional pinning ceremony is meant to welcome our new nursing graduates into the nursing profession,” said LSC Nursing Program Director Deborah Amys. “The graduates are presented with nursing pins by the faculty or a loved one chosen by the graduate.”
Forty-eight students will graduate this December from LSC’s nursing program, which is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), completing their professional nursing A.S. degree. This qualifies them to take the Minnesota state nursing exam to become registered nurses. Family and friends are invited to attend the pinning ceremony which will be held in the Commons on LSC’s main campus, with an informal reception to follow.
