Lake Superior College’s Physical Therapy Clinic Celebrates 20th Anniversary; Open House Scheduled for Noon, November 19

Please join us in celebrating twenty years of providing physical therapy services to underinsured or uninsured community members, as well as students and employees of Lake Superior College, at the LSC Physical Therapy Clinic 20th Anniversary Open House Celebration, November 19th, 2019, Noon – 1:00 p.m. and/or 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

It is difficult to imagine the Lake Superior Physical Therapist Assistant Program without the integral clinic experience the on-campus outpatient clinic provides. When the clinic opened in 1999, it was one of the first academic clinics in the country providing physical therapy services. The Lake Superior College Physical Therapy Clinic would not be a reality had it not been for the vision and dedication of the core faculty group of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program with the full support of Lake Superior College (LSC) and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. Grants from Minnesota State and the Northland Foundation made this revolutionary clinic a possibility.

The LSC Physical Therapy Clinic partners with The College of St. Scholastica’s Physical Therapy Program and their student physical therapists. Together student physical therapists and student physical therapist assistants provide skilled physical therapy services while being supervised by clinical instructors who are licensed physical therapy clinicians. Students work with patients with a variety of neurologic diagnoses such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, or stroke as well as orthopedic diagnoses such as sprained ankle, back pain, stress fractures, carpal tunnel, or postural pain.

The clinic is open throughout the fall and spring semesters on Mondays and
Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lake Superior College students are seen for free and all others are billed on a sliding fee scale with a 0-$10 per visit payment. The clinic does not accept patients with workers’ compensation injuries or those patients with active lawsuits related to an injury. Physical therapy openings are currently available. If you or someone you know would benefit from our physical therapy services, please contact us at (218) 733-1093 or email Chandra Shoberg at [email protected].
