Lake Superior College ranked as the #1 Online Community College in Minnesota, #15 in the Nation

Lake Superior College has been ranked as the best online community college in the state of Minnesota, and among the top fifteen online community colleges in the nation, per the 2020 Best Online Community College Rankings by Guide to Online Schools.

The national listing includes the 25 best accredited schools across the country, while state lists highlight the top community colleges in each state for prospective students who plan to stay local. Both the overall and state lists were ranked by several important factors, including retention rate, graduation rate, percentage of online enrollment data, and the number of online associate degrees offered. They also provide a manually researched tuition rate, sourced from each college's official website.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted higher education to an unprecedented extent. With the immediate future of higher education and the economy uncertain, many students are rethinking the traditional model of a brick-and-mortar education and considering the benefits and safety of online degrees and/or attending a local community college to save time and money while living closer to home. Lake Superior College is offering online courses this summer and is planning on offering both on campus and online courses this fall, but recognizes that some students would prefer the convenience of an online, or even a hybrid, education. Since LSC has already been a statewide leader in terms of providing a vast portfolio of online education options, the institution is prepared to offer many courses both online and in modified and adjusted classrooms on campus this fall.
