Lake Superior College Hires New Vice President
David Kline will lead LSC’s Foundation and External Relationships

Duluth, Minn. (January 30, 2023) — Lake Superior College hired David Kline as its new vice president of advancement and external relationships earlier this month. Kline most recently worked for Saint Paul College as its executive director of the Friends of Saint Paul College Foundation since 2017.

“We are so glad to have David Kline join our LSC team,” said Dr. Patricia Rogers, president of Lake Superior College. “His relationship-building and leadership skills will boost our ability to serve students.”

During his tenure at Saint Paul College, Kline led fundraising efforts for scholarships, programs, and student emergency aid through major events, grants, sponsorships and individual giving. Under his direction, the endowed scholarship fund grew from $1.3 to $2.5 million and overall annual revenues averaged $1.6 million annually.

“I’m excited to roll up my sleeves and help the faculty and staff at Lake Superior College prepare students for careers in dozens of in-demand fields,” said Kline. “The Twin Ports area has a rich history of improving people's lives through education and hard work. I hope to play a part in building upon that tradition.”

Prior to Saint Paul College, he served as Development and Communications Director at the International Wolf Center. David polished his relationship-building skills while fundraising for Dunwoody College, and the Twin Cities Scouting council’s $26 million capital campaign.

He began his philanthropy career at the Target Foundation, where he functioned as a program officer, reviewing hundreds of grant requests from various nonprofit organizations.

Kline earned a Master of Business Communications (public relations) from the University of St. Thomas, a Bachelor of Science in Business (finance) from the University of Minnesota, and an associate degree from North Hennepin Community College. He recently served on the board of the Saint Paul Rotary Club #10, and as chair of the parks commission for the city of Dayton, MN.
