Lake Superior College Foundation to award up to $100,000 in Workforce Development Scholarships
$2,500 annual scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in eligible, high-demand career programs

The Lake Superior College Foundation is pleased to announce another round of Workforce Development Scholarships is now available for eligible students at Lake Superior College. The application window is now open and will remain open until midnight on November 15. Eligible students can apply for one of several $2,500 scholarships which will be applied to spring semester 2021, and can be renewed for fall semester 2021. These scholarships were made possible by a $7 million appropriation from the Legislature after a successful pilot program stemming from a previous legislative session that initially awarded $1 million in scholarships in the 2018-2019 academic year. The scholarships are for Minnesota residents, enrolled in /who will be enrolled at Lake Superior College in spring semester 2021, with at least 9 credits, and who are pursuing academic programs and careers within the approved programs of: advanced manufacturing, agriculture, health care services, information technology, early childhood education, and transportation.

Eligibility

  • Student must be enrolled in, or planning to apply/enroll in, an approved high-demand occupation career program as outlined by the State of Minnesota which includes: manufacturing, agriculture, heath care services, information technology, early childcare education and transportation related fields.
  • Student must be enrolled in at least 9 credits per term; maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher, and must be a Minnesota resident.
  • Typically these are annual awards, broken into two payments of $1,250 per semester, for two semesters. Eligible returning students may reapply and receive continued funding up to $7,500 maximum, over three years.
  • Preference given to students in financial need, that demonstrate how, if awarded, this scholarship would help support their educational and career goals.
