Greg Daw Hired as Mountain Biking Coach at Lake Superior College

Lake Superior College has announced the addition of a mountain biking team to the expanding number of athletic options being offered to students beginning this fall. Greg Daw has been named the inaugural coach of the co-ed mountain biking team and begins at on LSC September 1.

Daw comes to LSC with several years of successful coaching experience. Most recently, he served as assistant coach of Track & Field and Cross Country at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan from August 2013 until July 2017.

Daw returns to Duluth, and Lake Superior College, having served as an instructor at LSC in Spring Semester 2013, while completing his undergraduate degree at UMD. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from UMD in May 2013 and a Master of Science in Exercise Science at Northern Michigan University in 2015. He is a certified U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) strength and conditioning coach.

“I’m excited to be returning to Duluth and Lake Superior College,” said Daw. “Mountain biking is a great opportunity to get students more involved on campus and in the community. We’re fortunate to have a remarkable cycling community with access to both high-quality and diverse trail networks. Providing more athletic opportunities can greatly enhance the college experience for all students at LSC. I’m looking forward to applying my coaching experience and knowledge to create a program centered around student-athletes.”

The IceHawks will compete as part of the North Central Collegiate Cycling Conference. The NCCCC has member schools from six different states in the region – Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska.
