Apply to the Professional Nursing Program

Before applying to the LSC nursing program, complete the following steps:

Choose a Start Date:

Professional Nursing:

To become a registered nurse (RN), apply to one of the 64-credit professional nursing programs.

• Professional Nursing AS starts fall or spring semester.
• Professional Nursing LPN Track AS starts spring semester (Professional nursing LPN track is a fast-track option for licensed practical nurses)

Practical Nursing:

To become a licensed practical nurse (LPN), apply to the 40-credit practical nursing program. Practical Nursing Diploma starts fall semester.

Become an LSC Student

Apply to LSC	Apply to LSC Before you begin the LSC nursing application, apply and become an LSC student, if you have not already done so.
Important	Important:You must declare your academic program of interest to apply to a nursing program. You can do this when you apply to LSC or by meeting with an advisor. Choose: Practical Nursing (to become an LPN) Nursing (to become an RN)
Note: Nursing Assistant Certificate / CNA is required	NOTE: Nursing Assistant Certificate / CNA is required for Practical Nursing diploma and Professional Nursing AS. It is not required for the Military Medic or LPN track programs.

Complete pre-program courses and requirements

Complete all “pre-program” requirements / courses specified in your program guide.

Apply while attending pre-program classes?

Professional nursing applicants must have completed all pre-program classes before applying.

Professional nursing applicants and practical nursing applicants must have completed all pre-program classes before applying.

NOTE: If you attended college somewhere else (including the military), you may be able to transfer credits that meet your pre-program course requirements.

Register for Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam

First visit to the ATI Website?

1. Go to atitesting.com.
2. Create an account (Practical nursing applicants choose institution: “Lake Superior College PN”, Professional nursing applicants choose institution “Lake Superior College ADN”)
3. Choose “Register for TEAS before using ATI”.
4. Then choose “ATI at an Institution”
5. Choose Program Type: TEAS for Nursing Students
6. Choose country, state, and city
7. Choose test date
8. Register by paying $102.00

Register for TEAS Exam

Register for ATI TEAS with an existing ATI account:

1. Log in to atitesting.com.
2. Go to Online Store in the top navigation bar
3. Choose Register for TEAS in the left bar
4. Choose Program Type: TEAS for Nursing Students
5. Choose country, state, and city
6. Choose test date
7. Register by paying $102.00

You must have taken the TEAS exam before the nursing application closes. More details are found in the nursing program application procedure.

Once you’ve purchased your TEAS exam, there are no refunds.

• Check out a copy of the ATI TEAS study guide to use while in the LSC Learning Center (you can’t take it with you)
• Purchase a copy of the study guide from the bookstore or online
• Borrow or buy a used copy of the study guide from someone who’s already passed the test

Register and login at the Learning Express Library

• Under “All Centers” choose “Career Center”
• Choose “Prepare for an Entrance Exam”
• Choose “Prepare for Nursing School Entrance Tests”, then “Nursing School Practice Entrance Tests”. You can learn, practice or take a simulated test.
• For additional practice before taking practice tests, choose “Nursing School Entrance Tests eBooks”.

The LSC nursing admissions process is competitive. It’s a separate process from becoming an LSC student. All nursing program applicants who complete minimum admission requirements by the application deadline will be considered for admission to the nursing program. Meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission into the nursing program.

After you’ve completed Step 1, apply to the LSC nursing program.

The application is open for the Fall 2024 class start of the Professional Nursing AS program and will be open March 01, 2024 - May 17, 2024.  Students who are currently in progress with their remaining prerequisites (spring semester) and have their TEAS entrance exam score of 58.6% or higher completed are encouraged to apply.

Applicants will be notified of the admission committees’ decision by May 30, 2024, using the email address from the online application.

Wait for notification of acceptance

You can expect to receive notification from LSC’s nursing department within the notification time frame stated in the application procedure.

Accepted	Accepted students MUST complete the required next steps by the deadline Accepted nursing students will receive a packet in the mail. You must complete forms and return to us as directed in acceptance letter to secure your seat in the program.
Not Accepted	If you were NOT accepted, you can reapply during a future application period. You must complete the entire nursing application process again. You do not have to apply to Lake Superior College again.

Requirements for Accepted Nursing Students Students

If you were chosen to participate in the nursing program, complete the following tasks by the due date shown in your acceptance letter. You must complete these tasks by the due date to be guaranteed a seat in the nursing program.

*Health exam & immunization record	*Health exam & immunization record Schedule a physical exam with your physician Print the health occupation programs history and physical exam form and fill out the first page before your appointment. Ask your provider’s office to fill out the remainder of the form at your visit.
CPR / first aid certification	CPR / first aid certification Submit a copy of your current CPR/first aid certification. Please refer to the program guide for appropriate course.
Submit Acceptance Form and Pay $50 Fee	Submit Acceptance Form and Pay $50 Fee Submit your acceptance form and pay the $50 deposit by mail or on-campus at the LSC business office. We require the fee to hold your spot in the program.
CNA, CMA or MM	CNA, CMA or MM Provide a copy of your current registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant or your Military Medic transcript.
LPN License	LPN License Provide a copy of your current LPN license (only applies to professional nursing students in LPN track)
