How to Apply to Nursing Programs at LSC
The LSC nursing admissions process is competitive. It’s a separate process from becoming an LSC student. All nursing program applicants who complete minimum admission requirements by the application deadline will be considered for admission to the nursing program. Meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission into the nursing program.

Before applying to the LSC nursing program, complete the following steps:

Professional Nursing:
To become a registered nurse (RN), apply to one of the 64-credit professional nursing programs.
- Professional Nursing AS starts fall or spring semester.
- Professional Nursing LPN Track AS starts spring semester (Professional nursing LPN track is a fast-track option for licensed practical nurses)

Important:You must declare your academic program of interest to apply to a nursing program. You can do this when you apply to LSC or by meeting with an advisor. Choose:

Complete pre-program courses and requirements
Complete all “pre-program” requirements / courses specified in your program guide.
Review pre-program requirements in the program guide including:
- English
- Reading
- Math
- Pre-program courses
- GPA requirements
Apply while attending pre-program classes?
Professional nursing applicants must have completed all pre-program classes before applying.
NOTE: If you attended college somewhere else (including the military), you may be able to transfer credits that meet your pre-program course requirements.
Register for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Exam
A passing overall score of 58.6% on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam is required for program acceptance. This exam proctored remotely ATI Testing, a third-party online testing platform.
Prospective nursing students must register directly with ATI to take this exam and comply with ATI’s test taking requirements and provide official TEAS results to LSC for application consideration.

After you’ve completed Step 1, apply to the LSC Nursing Program.
The Application Window for Fall 2026 program start is: January 30, 2026 - August 7, 2026
Applications will be reviewed for Fall 2026 program start on the following dates:
- March 15, 2026
- May 22, 2026
- August 7, 2026 - if seats remain
The Application Window for Spring 2027 program start is September 28, 2026 – December 28, 2026.
Applications will be reviewed for Spring 2027 program start on the following dates:
- October 15, 2026
- December 28, 2026 – if seats remain
EARLY ACCEPTANCE: Students who have completed all pre-program courses and the TEAS entrance exam are encouraged to apply. Applicants who have met all admission criteria by the first review date will receive early acceptance.
NOTIFICATION OF PROGRAM STANDING: Students will be notified of their acceptance into the AS Professional Nursing program within 2 weeks of each scheduled review date as listed above. This 2-week timeframe is necessary to complete a thorough application review. Please refrain from inquiring about the status of your application until our internal application review has been completed.

You can expect to receive notification from LSC’s nursing department within the notification time frame stated in the application procedure.

Accepted students MUST complete the required next steps by the deadline Accepted nursing students will receive a an acceptance letter to the preferred email address on file. You must complete forms and return to us as directed in acceptance letter to secure your seat in the program. |

Not Accepted |
If you were NOT accepted, you can reapply during a future application period. You must complete the entire nursing application process again. You do not have to apply to Lake Superior College again. |
Requirements for Accepted Nursing Students Students

If you were chosen to participate in the nursing program, complete the following tasks by the due date shown in your acceptance letter. You must complete these tasks by the due date to be guaranteed a seat in the nursing program.

Healthcare Experience or Certification |
Healthcare Experience or Certification Provide a copy of your current registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Military Medic, EMT, paramedic, radiology technologist, respiratory therapist, certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, or Physical Therapy Assistant. If you do not have a current certification, please review the Nursing admission policy. |
