President Message for October 1, 2026

As we begin October, many of us are reflecting on the recent message from Scott Olson regarding the Strategic Realignment of Minnesota State and the important conversations ahead. While change can bring questions and uncertainty, it also creates opportunities to reimagine how we best serve students, communities, and workforce needs across Minnesota.

At Lake Superior College, we enter these discussions from a position of strength. Over the past year, we have updated our strategic plan, advanced organizational planning, launched the LIFE program, strengthened our work in competency-based education, and begun process improvement efforts that will help shape our future. These initiatives reflect our commitment to innovation, student success, and continuous improvement.

What gives me confidence is our people. Every day, faculty, staff, and administrators demonstrate an unwavering dedication to our students and community. Whatever changes may come, our mission remains the same: providing accessible, high-quality education that transforms lives.

The months ahead will bring important discussions, and we will continue to engage thoughtfully, transparently, and collaboratively. I am optimistic about our future and grateful for the commitment and resilience of this remarkable college community.

Together, we will not simply respond to change. We will help shape what comes next.
