Lake Superior College to host Early Bird event this Saturday to help students prepare for fall semester

Lake Superior College students will get an early opportunity to prepare to begin fall semester at LSC’s Early Bird event this Saturday, August 25. Students are invited to LSC’s main campus between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. to take care of tasks including purchasing books and supplies, last minute registration, getting a student ID card, meeting with an advisor, paying tuition, and finding their classrooms before the semester begins. In addition, all apparel items in the LSC bookstore will be 20% off during Early Bird hours.

Fall semester begins Monday, August 27. There are still a few course openings for fall semester including a number of career-based programs in healthcare, business, and technical programs as well as other two-year degree programs.

In addition to getting assistance with registration, walk-in information sessions will be offered throughout the morning covering topics including financial aid, student clubs and organizations, academic support resources, navigating the first year of college and more.

“We encourage students and parents to visit us for Early Bird on Saturday,” said LSC Registrar Melissa Leno. “We will have staff stationed throughout the campus to assist students with whatever they need to do before school starts. The LSC Store and Business Office will be open to serve students as well.”

In addition to the event on main campus on Trinity Road, LSC’s three other campus locations will also offer Early Bird activities this Saturday:

  • Center for Advanced Aviation, 4960 Airport Road, Hangar 103, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Learn about LSC’s aviation related programs.
  • Emergency Response Training Center, 11501 Highway 23, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.  Learn more about LSC’s firefighting and truck driving programs.
  • Downtown Center, 120 N. Second Ave. W., 12-2 p.m. Learn about in-demand integrated manufacturing programs of computer-aided design, machine tool and welding careers.
