Lake Superior College (LSC) will host a pair of pinning ceremonies this Friday, May 15 for nursing students graduating this spring in its Commons on the LSC main campus.
LSC will honor 68 graduating students from its Practical (LPN), Professional (RN) and Advanced Standing (LPN-RN) Nursing programs. The ceremonies will be split into two. The first ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. and will recognize the Practical Nursing and the Professional Nursing morning cohort. The second ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m., consisting of the Advanced Standing and the Professional Nursing afternoon cohort.
The formal pinning ceremony welcomes new nursing graduates into the nursing profession. New nurses are presented nursing pins by faculty or a loved one chosen by the graduate.
Anna Adrian, Mikayla Morgando, Magdalene Rother and Callie Corrigan will serve as student speakers during each ceremony.
The Associate and Practical Nursing program at Lake Superior College is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Practical Nursing (LPN) graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Once licensed, LPN graduates are eligible to apply to LSC’s Nursing AS Advanced Standing LPN Track to further their education in nursing. Professional Nursing program graduates are qualified to take the Minnesota state nursing exam to become registered nurses.
Family and friends are invited to attend. A reception in Hawks Landing will be held following each ceremony.
