Lake Superior College Library Grand Reopening Wednesday
Space Redesigned to Better Serve Student Needs

DULUTH, Minn. (March 12, 2024) – Tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9 a.m. at Lake Superior College’s main campus, a ribbon cutting will occur to celebrate the grand reopening of the updated Harold P. Erickson Library. Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert and Lake Superior College President Patricia Rogers will make brief comments.

The $2.3 million renovation has been in the planning or construction phases since 2014. The remodeled space brings together the resources of the library, the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC), the federally funded TRiO Student Support Services, and the student Technology Support Center. The redesigned space includes 10 group study rooms for 4-12 students each. The TLC has large rooms for Math, Science, and Writing tutoring services.

“We’re thrilled to open the doors to this reimagined space,” said Dr. Rogers. “The support services our librarians, IT helpdesk staff, tutors, and counselors can provide in this area are critical to student success.”

Funding for this remodeled space came from a blend of one-time state of Minnesota aid as well as the college’s reserve or savings fund.
