
The Lake Superior College (LSC) Dental Hygiene Clinic will take part in the “Give Kids a Smile” campaign for the 22nd year on Friday, February 6, providing children free dental services.
LSC Dental Hygiene program faculty, staff and 40 first- and second-year students will work with volunteer dentists, hygienists and assistants to provide full-service dental care for the children in the Duluth-Superior area. Volunteers will provide services like exams, cleanings, oral hygiene instruction, fluoride varnish, X-rays, sealants, simple extractions, and fillings.
Friday’s event has nearly 40 kids signed up for the day. The event runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The “Give Kids a Smile” program is a statewide outreach effort coordinated by the Minnesota Dental Association whose members are committed to providing all children with dental care and improving access to care throughout Minnesota. Since 2003, Minnesota dentists have provided free dental care to more than 92,000 children through “Give Kids a Smile”, delivering services valued at over $30.5 million.
