CEI Message for November 6, 2025
Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian peoples. It also honors and recognizes the importance of preserving and sharing Indigenous traditions and knowledge.
Two local events you’re welcome to participate in this month are:
Ricky DeFoe at LSC with his presentation “An Ojibwe Man’s View”
Wednesday, November 12th from 12-1 in the CEI (M125)
Native American Heritage Day, presented by the St. Louis County Historical Society
Saturday, November 22nd from 11-3 in the Great Hall at the Depot
SNAP support for students
LSC is committed to helping our students through SNAP freeze. Instructors and all others with direct contact with students—please have them check their email from me on Tuesday, October 28th for details.
Bite-Sized Equity this week will talk about religion and our students
Every Thursday from 8:30-9:00 on Zoom
Join us as you’re able for a weekly 30-minutes of building knowledge around topics like biases, authentic apologies, having difficult conversations & more!
Narratives for Change
Tuesday, November 18th from 11:30-12:30 on Zoom.
Watch the 26-minute film “Reclaiming Sacred Tobacco,” highlighting Minnesota American Indian traditional practices around tobacco use, and then come discuss the film in a low-key setting. Theresa Leopold will host this month’s event.

Current pantry needs
Sugar, toilet paper, crackers, fruit cups, instant rice, and deodorant. We have had 386 pantry visits in the last 3 weeks and anticipate that this number will continue to grow as food support is limited. Thank you to all who have supported us!
