Dr. Lisa Schlotterhausen Named Interim VP of Academic and Student Affairs
Schlotterhausen takes over for Dr. Linda Kingston, who became LSC’s President on July 1.

Lake Superior College announces Dr. Lisa Schlotterhausen as its new interim vice president for Academic and Student Affairs. Schlotterhausen began her role on Wednesday.

She replaces Dr. Linda Kingston, who assumed the President position on July 1. Schlotterhausen will provide leadership and management oversight of administrative personnel and staff in academic affairs, student affairs and customized training and continuing education.

“Dr. Lisa Schlotterhausen brings a depth of experience and understanding of our college’s mission and a dedication to student success,” said Dr. Kingston, president of Lake Superior College. “We are grateful for her willingness to lead during this transitional period and look forward to the steady guidance she will provide.”

Throughout her career in higher education, Dr. Schlotterhausen has been deeply committed to supporting both faculty and students, especially within the community and technical college sector. As the Vice President of Academic and Student Services at Lamar Community College (Colo.), she led the recruitment, selection, evaluation, and professional development of faculty, staff, and administrators, ensuring a supportive and enriching environment for all. In her role as Dean of Academic Affairs at Riverland Community College (Minn.), she was responsible for overseeing numerous faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative and student-centered atmosphere.

Additionally, Schlotterhausen served as the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning at Century College (Minn.), where she managed the Institutional Effectiveness office, led the evaluation of student success initiatives, and ensured compliance with accreditation standards. Her experience in higher education is further highlighted by her early career roles, including Dean of Institutional Effectiveness at North Hennepin Community College (Minn.). At North Hennepin, she was a leader in promoting equity as one of the college's first Ally/Safe Space trainers and played a key role in evaluating student success initiatives focused on closing achievement gaps.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the team at Lake Superior College and eager to collaborate with all employees and the community in support of the college's mission,” said Dr. Schlotterhausen. “I look forward to contributing to the dynamic and inspiring culture at LSC that empowers students and strengthens our community."

Outside of the academic environment, Dr. Schlotterhausen has experience in community and economic development activities, including serving as District Governor for Lions Clubs International, and assisting local governments with grants and infrastructure projects.
