The Power of Resilience

The month of October marks the mid-way point of the fall semester. It also marks a significant seasonal shift to autumn and symbolizes change, gratitude, and reflection. As we step into this month, let’s take a moment to reflect on the quiet strength that carries us through life’s challenges: resilience.

There is a Japanese Proverb that states, “Fall seven times, stand up eight”. This is resilience! It’s not about never falling, it’s about rising every time we do. Resilience is the ability to adapt, to learn, and to grow stronger through adversity. Whether we are facing personal setbacks, professional hurdles, unexpected change, or difficult coursework, resilience reminds us that we are capable of so much more than we think.

In this time of change, I encourage you to:

  • Pause and acknowledge how far you’ve come, especially through difficult times.
  • Lean into support – resilience doesn’t mean you have to go it alone.
  • Celebrate small wins – they will become the building blocks of your long-term strength.

Let’s continue to show up with courage, compassion, and the belief that every challenge is an opportunity to grow.

Thanks!

Linda
