The dental hygiene program starts once a year in Fall semester.

Before applying to the dental hygiene program, be sure you’re an accepted LSC student and have completed all pre-program courses and requirements.

Before you apply to the Dental Hygiene program you must apply and become an LSC student.

Declare Your Major

When you apply to become an LSC student, choose dental hygiene as your major. If you change your major after you apply to LSC, make sure to meet with an advisor.

If you’ve taken classes for credit at LSC in the last 2 years, don’t reapply. If it’s been 2 years or more since you took a class, you need to apply to become an LSC student again.

Complete pre-program courses and requirements

  1. Complete all “pre-program” requirements / courses specified in your program guide.
  2. Review pre-program requirements in the program guide including:
    • English/reading
    • Math
    • Pre-program courses
    • GPA requirements
  3. Job shadowing
    We recommend you complete your job shadowing before you apply to the dental hygiene program. You’ll get to see and experience the dental hygiene profession up close and have a better idea of what to expect from the dental hygiene program when you apply. Start shadowing now! Job Shadowing Form

Step 2: Apply...

After you’ve completed Step 1, apply to the LSC dental hygiene program.

The dental hygiene program starts once a year in Fall semester. Applications accepted December 26, 2023 - January 22, 2024.

Step 3: Notification and Next Steps...

Acceptance letters for the Dental Hygiene program will be emailed by the end of February.

If you are accepted into the dental hygiene program you must complete the required next steps for accepted students.

If you were not accepted, you can reapply to the dental hygiene program during a future application period. You must complete the entire dental hygiene application process again. You don’t need to reapply as an LSC student.

Step 4: Accepted Students...

If you were chosen to participate in the dental hygiene program, complete these tasks:

**Important** Start with tasks marked with asterisks (**). They may take extra time. You must complete these tasks by the due date to be guaranteed a seat in the dental hygiene program.

  1. Complete the Health Declaration Form.
  2. Complete the Exposure and Immunity Requirements Form. If any immunizations are missing or expired, make an appointment to complete them.
  3. Complete the Verification of Policy and Release of Information Form.

The program for dental hygiene is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (and has been granted the accreditation status of “approval without reporting requirements”). Student Selection
Admission to the Dental Hygiene Program is competitive. Qualified applicants will be ranked according to their pre-program GPA; the top-ranking students will be offered admission. In the event of a tie, priority will be given to students who completed their pre-program requirements first. The minimum cumulative GPA of pre-program courses must be 3.0 or better.
