Job Duties
Reception and Computer Support
Greet and assist students as they enter the Tutoring and Learning Center; answer the phone; take messages/tutor appointments; prepare documents and materials that require a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Office 365; assist students in navigating online courses and developing computer skills; perform light cleaning to maintain a neat and orderly work environment; other duties as assigned.
Math Peer Tutor
Assist students in understanding math principles; provide study tips/examples of similar problems. Tutors are needed in two different Math labs. Math Lab A supports students in classes ranging from Algebra I to Pre-Calculus Math Lab B supports students from Calculus I to Differential Equations. Most student tutors work in one lab or the other. Math tutors are required to have A’s and B’s in areas they wish to tutor.
Science Peer Tutor
Peer tutors needed in all sciences and allied health programs. Preferred candidates will be able to tutor in a few subject areas, including but not limited to biology (especially cell biology, anatomy and physiology 1&2, microbiology, and pathophysiology), all levels of chemistry, psychology, and nursing.
Writing Peer Tutor
Assist students in developing effective paragraph, essay, and research paper writing skills for all subjects. Assist students with D2L, Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Word and Office 365), and other online resources as needed. Science tutors are required to have A’s and B’s in areas they wish to tutor.
