About:

Minnesota State is transitioning to a unified academic environment for students to seamlessly access their accounts and information from school to school within the Minnesota State system. To accomplish this goal, all Lake Superior College student email and O365 systems will be moved to the Minnesota State unified academic system. This move will allow each student the opportunity to access their account or data from any Minnesota State school within our system.

What to Expect?

First day after moving – Tuesday, February 19th

Move Process:

Timeline:

  • Email: Between 6:00 p.m. CST on Friday, February 15 and 8:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, February 19 Lake Superior College student email will be moved to Minnesota State email. Students will have intermittent access to their email during this transition. This means that students will lose access during the time their mailbox is being moved. There is no way to identify exactly when over the weekend this will occur. Students may still send and receive email during this time; however, not all communication may be received in a timely manner. Due to this, we strongly recommend students limit their email usage until the move is fully completed. Forwarding email to other accounts will still experience the same intermittent outages during this timeframe. LSC Faculty and Employees will be making the same move during the same time. Please expect some delays in communications and responses. Faculty and Employees will do our best to make accommodations during this timeframe. Students will still be expected to complete coursework during this timeframe.  If you have concerns, please contact your instructor to discuss.

  • OneDrive: Between 4:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday, February 12 and 8:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, February 19 students should not Add, Edit, or Delete any information from their OneDrive. Students will still be able to access their files to download; however, any Adds, Edits, or Deletes will not be captured or saved during the transfer. You may only download files, otherwise all other changes will be lost and unrecoverable during the migration. Beginning at 8:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, February 19 students may resume Adding, Editing, or Deleting information from their OneDrive. We recommend that during this time you temporarily save your added or edited files on a flash drive, your own personal computing device, or mobile device.  When migration is complete, you should then re-upload any new or modified documents to your OneDrive.

  • 3rd Party Publisher Websites:

If your coursework includes using a 3rd party publisher website that is non-LSC, you will continue to access those sites like you normally would.   This change will not affect these systems.

  • During this time, you may still access all other accounts as you normally would. These systems will be unaffected during the migration:
    1. D2L Brightspace (email tool will be intermittent during the move.  Emails sent within D2L will have delays)
    2. e-Services

Email Addresses:

Students will access their email and O365 with their new StarID@go.minnstate.edu account.

O365 (Office, OneDrive, Teams, etc):

Students will access their email and O365 with their new StarID@go.minnstate.edu account.

LSC Computer Login:

Students will continue to login to LSC computers with their StarID and password as you have done in the past. Computer login does not require the @go.minnstate.edu with your StarID.

Student Employment:

When a student becomes a student employee, they will be issued a separate employee account.  Students will no longer have 1 account while actively employed by the institution.   The students supervisor will communicate by sending emails to the student’s employee account.
