What should I expect from Personal Counseling?

The counselor at Lake Superior College is here to help students identify, understand, and develop skills to resolve their personal concerns.

Counseling enables a student to learn more about themselves. It is a chance to talk over what is on your mind confidentially with an objective person who can help you learn new skills and new ways of looking at situations.

Working with a counselor is generally short term (typically 2-6 sessions), with clear purposes, to help you learn how to take charge of your life and be more capable of solving future problems on your own. If further help is needed, the counselor can help students identify and connect with off campus resources.
