The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)-Military Bridge is a unique program for service members with military therapy training. As an accepted student, your previous military training and experience will apply to the program. You will start the program with 54 equivalent civilian credits to apply to the 74 credit PTA Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree. The Physical Therapist Assistant-Military Bridge program enables you to complete the A.A.S. Degree online in 20 credits. It is the only program of its kind in the nation.

The LSC PTA-Military Bridge is a fully online program. It starts once a year in Spring semester. Applications are accepted year-round. The program currently has a waiting list of 12-18 months. 

Become an LSC student

  • Apply to LSC

    Before you apply to the PTA-Military Bridge program you must apply and become an LSC student.

  • Declare your major

    When you apply to become an LSC student, choose PTA as your major. If you change your major after you apply to LSC, make sure to meet with an advisor.

  • Have you been an LSC student before?

    If you’ve taken classes for credit at LSC in the last 2 years, don’t reapply. If it’s been 2 years or more since you took a class, you need to apply to become an LSC student again.

Complete military training

Complete an approved military training program per current admission criteria. Please note that you must wait 6 months after the METC before applying.

Verify work experience

Provide a recommendation from a supervising physical therapist verifying 6 months post-training work experience and a skills documentation log.

Apply for benefits

As a Military or Veteran student, you may be eligible for educational benefits though numerous GI Bill® programs. Keep in mind it can take 60-90 days to process new certifications, so apply for military benefits early!

Student selection
Students who become LSC students and complete all PTA Military Bridge pre-program requirements will be admitted to the PTA Military Bridge program as long as there are available seats in the program. Students are ranked by the date on which their final program requirement was met, and when they completed their application to LSC / declared PTA as their program.
