The academy is an 18-month program designed to nurture leadership talent for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. Selected employees are from 28 of the system's institutions and Office of the Chancellor. Participants include department and faculty deans, human resource directors, business managers, chief financial officers, and faculty and staff who aspire to leadership positions. "We are proud that we have such a rich pool of up-and-coming leaders," said MnSCU Chancellor James H. McCormick. "By investing in these promising individuals now, we ensure that we will have strong leaders for the system in the challenging years ahead." The academy helps participants develop leadership skills, gain an appreciation of different perspectives in the system and create a network of colleagues committed to transformational leadership. Named to honor Jim Luoma, a trustee emeritus of the system's board, the leadership development program began in November 2004. This is the third group to go through the program. LSC is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. With more than 5,000 students enrolled this past spring semester, LSC is Northeastern Minnesota's largest two-year college. LSC provides a wide range of programs and services, including liberal arts and science courses for transfer, technical programs intended to provide occupational skills, continuing education, and customized training for business and industry. LSC is also the leader in Internet-delivered courses and programs in Minnesota. |
