AA Degree

To complete the 60-credit Associate in Arts degree at Lake Superior College, a student must complete the 40-credit Minnesota Transfer Curriculum. The remaining twenty credits will count as electives for the degree.

On Thursday, July 11, 2002, a site visit for the accreditation of e-learning programs was completed by two consultant/evaluators from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). On Monday, November 18, 2002, the HLC gave final approval for LSC's change request to offer any and all degrees (A.A., A.S., and A.A.S.) through e-learning formats.

To complete the A.A. degree, students are required to complete at least two credits in the area of Health or Physical Education. The following Health courses are acceptable: HLTH 1210 (Nutrition), HLTH 1410 (Nutrition in Athletic Performance), HLTH 1430 (Personal Wellness). Distance learning P.E. courses are now available. Transfer courses from other institutions can also be used to satisfy the P.E. requirement for the A.A. degree at LSC.

Beyond the 40-credit Minnesota Transfer Curriculum requirement, and the 2-credit P.E./Health requirement, an additional eighteen credits of electives are required for the A.A. degree. As of fall 2003, a student can choose the eighteen credits from a list of courses totaling more than one hundred fifteen credits.

The following Minnesota Transfer Curriculum courses are available in an asynchronous, online format from Lake Superior College. Goal areas 1 through 6 must be satisfied as indicated in the tables below. Additionally, goal areas 7 through 10 must be satisfied by taking at least one course in each goal area.
