No Financial Aid for Repeated Courses

What is a repeated course?
A student repeats a course when s/he was enrolled in the course previously and received a letter grade (A-F or N) and enrolls in the same course again.

If I received a "W" in the course, would I be considered repeating the course if I take it again?
No. a W is not a letter grade and therefore taking the course again would not be considered repeating the course.

Why can't I receive financial aid for a repeated course?
You can only receive financial aid once for a course that you completed, whether you earned credit (A-D) or not (F or N).

How does a repeated course affect my overall financial aid for the term?
Any repeated credits are ignored when determining the total number of credits on which we base your financial aid. For instance: You must have a minimum of 6 non-repeated credits in order to be eligible for a student loan. If you are enrolled for 7 credits, but 3 of those credits are repeated credits, your financial aid would be based on 4 credits rather than 7. You would therefore not be eligible for a student loan for the term.

I had stopped attending a previous class and did not officially withdraw. As a result, I received an F in the class. Would I still be considered as repeating the course when I take it again even if I didn?t complete the term?
Yes. Had you officially withdrawn from the course and received a W, it would not be considered as a repeated course. However, since you received an F for the course, it is considered repeating the course and therefore not eligible for financial aid.

I took a class in music/art. I now want to take the class again, but the instructor will be teaching me at an advanced level, so even if it?s the same class name and number, the course itself is different. Would I be considered repeating the course?
In this case, you may petition through the general petition process to request the course not be considered a repeated course.
