Aviation Maintenance Program Student Assistants

  • Hours per Week: Approximately 20-30

Campus Ambassador

  • Hours per Week: 20-25
  • Work Schedule: Flexible, between 7:30-5:00 Monday – Thursday, 7:30-11:30 Friday
  • Job Location: Student Services, Room S1940
  • Description: Give prospective student tours, help current and new students register for classes, assist students with filing for financial aid, front desk reception when needed, help with SOAR (Student Orientation, Accuplacer, and Registration), other office tasks as assigned.
  • Requirements: Must be enrolled at Lake Superior College at least part-time and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, must meet the LSC student employment requirements, must possess basic computer knowledge and a willingness to learn new skills, must be able to work independently and without direct supervision, be a self-starter and self-motivated.

Foundation Office Receptionist/Assistant

*Position starts July 2014 and can continue through Fall and Spring semesters with positive performance

  • Work Schedule: Variable – Example: Wed 8:00am-4:00pm; Thurs 8:00am-4:00pm; Friday 8:00am-12:00pm
  • Job Location: Foundation/Administration Office
  • Description: This position will support the foundation with donor, scholarship and event activities. Other assignments and projects, as assigned by a supervisor, may include filing, sorting mail, and using office equipment such as copiers, faxes, and data processing. This position may include answering the phone and greeting visitors to the suite and foundation.
  • Requirements:Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), telephone etiquette, and computer functions. English language proficiency required. Copy Center / Mail Room Assistant

  • Hours per Week: 10 normally, up to 30 maximum (within time frames listed below)
  • Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • Job Location: LSC Copy Center/Mail Room
  • Description: Students will assist the Copy Center manager with work that is brought to the center for completion. When the manager is not available the student will be responsible for completing tasks necessary to continue center operations. The following are some of the tasks that will need to be completed by students: copy/print jobs for students, staff and instructors, sorting and sending mail, shipping packages, preparing course packets for sale in the LSC store, binding, laminating, hand collating.
  • Requirements: The following skills are necessary: attention to detail, multitasking, following directions, customer service, and organization.

Student Payment Office Assistant

  • Hours per Week: 10
  • Work Schedule: Variable Monday-Friday, preferably 2-3 hours per day, 2-3 days per week

  • Job Description: customer service at payment window, accurate data entry for cashiering tuition payments, answering phones, filing, copying, other office duties as assigned

Computer Services Student Assistant

  • Starting: Summer 2014
  • Hours per Week: 20 minimum
  • Work Schedule: Flexible between 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday – Friday
  • Job Location: Computer Services Department
  • Responsibilities: Assist Computer Services staff with day to day activities including a range of tasks possibly including any of the following: software/hardware installation, hard drive erasure, computer imaging, inventory, lab setup, organizing, file maintenance, break down cardboard, etc.
  • Requirements: Computer experience preferred, but not needed in all cases. Preference given to students in CIS coursework.

Nursing Office/Lab Assistant

  • Hours per Week: Up to 10 – would like someone who will be available this Summer and the upcoming Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters.

Learning Center – Receptionist/Computer Assistance

  • Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 7:30am-12:30pm,  Monday-Thursday:   12:30pm-5:30 or 6:00pm

Must be available to work in the five hour blocks of time that are listed!

  • Job Description: Greet and assist students as they enter the Learning Center; answer phone; take messages/tutor appointments; word processing plus knowledge of Publisher software; assist students in navigating online courses; light cleaning to maintain neat and orderly work environment.
  • Job Requirements: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Power Point, Excel, Access) and Publisher software is required; knowledge of D2L (online class) “navigation” and student email required; dependable, good interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills; able to work with diverse student population; casual, appropriate dress; paid tutor training (required)

  • Job Description: Tutors needed in Chemistry, Intro Cell Biology, Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Medical Terminology; must incorporate study skills into tutoring. To apply must be able to tutor in more subjects than just Medical Terminology.

  • Job Description: Assist students in understanding math principles; provide study tips/examples of similar problems. Tutors needed in Pre-algebra-Algebra II and tutors needed for College Algebra, Trig, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I & II (There are two different math labs to staff)
