The LSC Student Senate advocates for students on the state and federal level through an organization called LeadMN. Each semester, Minnesota technical and community college student senators meet at LeadMN’s General Assembly to represent their schools, attend workshops and learn how to better serve their students. Student senators also have the opportunity to listen to various speakers and have open discussion on issues affecting Minnesota technical and community college students.
During the year, senators also attend leadership conferences held by LeadMN on other campuses. These conferences are a lot like the General Assembly, but on a smaller scale. Both events offer opportunities to network with students at other colleges, exchange ideas and attend leadership training.
