Your student senate here at LSC advocates for you on a State and even Federal level. This is made possible through an organization called Minnesota State College Student Association (MSCSA). Once a semester, LSC and every other two-year technical and community college in Minnesota meets at what is called General Assembly. At General Assembly the student senators represent our college, attend multiple workshops, and learn leadership skills in order to learn how to better serve you, the students, on our campus. In addition to attending workshops student senate members also listen to various speakers and have open discussion on issues affecting Minnesota technical and community college students. Not only do we attend General Assembly twice a year, but about once a month a couple student senators get to go to other campuses for the Student Leadership Conferences held by the MSCSA. These conferences are a lot like the General Assembly but on a smaller scale. Both events offer opportunities to network with students at other colleges, exchange ideas, and attend workshops to better their leadership skills.  Student senators always have a great time when attending MSCSA events.

Regional Meetings
Once a month LSC student senate attends what are called regional meetings. Our school is in the North Central Region. The other colleges in our region include:
•Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College
•Central Lakes College-Brainerd
•Central Lakes College- Staples
•Pine Technical College

Leadership Opportunities

“MSCSA provides opportunities for students to serve as leaders on a regional and state level. MSCSA has many elected and appointed leadership positions for students including the Cabinet, Governing Council, Platform Committee, Presidents’ Group, Steering Committee, Fiscal Committee, and various ad hoc committees.”
