The Harold P. Erickson Library provides a number of services for currently enrolled students, faculty, staff, and affiliated users. For information about Borrowing Privileges and Loan periods, click here.
Faculty and Instructors will often place textbooks or other readings from their courses on “course reserve” when they want to ensure availability of course reading materials for all students. Course Reserve items are held at the Circulation Desk and may be checked out for IN-LIBRARY USE ONLY for 2 hours. Ask at the Circulation Desk about renewing reserve items.
Need a place to meet for your group project or quiet study time? Check out the Library’s Group Study Rooms. Rooms are available through an online booking system or in-person. The Library has 5 Group Study Rooms and 1 Shared Group Study Room for current students, faculty, and staff. The Shared Group Study Room (located behind the Reference Desk in Room E1042) does not require a checkout with your Library Barcode. Cell phone conversations are allowed in the Group Study Rooms. Each group study room includes a white board, TV and DVD/VCR.
Anyone who is not a LSC student or employee may obtain a Community Library Card to borrow circulating materials. Community Library Cards are valid for one year from the date of issuance and may be renewed upon verification of current photo ID and current address. Community Borrowers may use the library space for reading and studying, check out circulation resources, and use the library’s computers. While Community Borrowers have privileges similar to the standard library card, there are some following exceptions:
- No access to Library Databases from off-campus due to licensing and other restrictions
- No access to Interlibrary Loan Services from LSC. Community Borrowers must use their local public library for Interlibrary Loan.
- For printing or photocopying access, Community Borrowers must set up funds with the Student Payment office.
- No LSC email accounts are given to Community Borrowers.
Community Borrowers must fill out the following application: Community Borrower (print out and bring to the Circulation Desk), show a legal photo ID (state ID or school ID), and read and follow the Acceptable Use of Computers and Information Technology Resources and Procedure–Acceptable Use of Computers and Information Technology Resources. Be aware that the application process will take up to 1 business day for a library account and up to 3 business days for a computer account.
