How to Calculate G.P.A. & Credit Completion Rate

Grade Point Average “G.P.A.” = Total Grade Points ÷ Total Credits

A = 4 points B = 3 points C = 2 points D = 1 point F = 0 points

Example:
CREDITS         GRADE        EARNED            GRADE POINTS
4 credit class x        C               (2 grade points) = 8
3 credit class x        F               (0 grade points) = 0
4 credit class x        B               (3 grade points) = 12
3 credit class x        B               (3 grade points) = 9
14 credits total                                                       29 grade points total
29 ÷ 14 = 2.07 G.P.A.

*Note: Withdrawals, Pass/No Credit and Transfer grades are NOT used in the calculation.  **For course repeats the higher grade is used.

Credit Completion Rate = Earned Credits ÷ Attempted Credits
Earned Credits: Any credit with a grade of A-D or “P” if pass/no credit course

Attempted Credits: Any credit for which you are registered for after the Drop/Add
deadline for the semester. This includes W (withdrawal), F (failure), FN (failure for nonattendance), I (incomplete), NC (no credit) grades.

Example:
75.99 earned credits ÷ 98.66 attempted credits = 77% credit completion rate
