College in high school (PSEO)

Lake Superior College offers a variety of ways for you to earn college credit while in high school. The Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is a great way to save money and time. As a PSEO student, you are not charged for tuition, textbooks, or support services. Lake Superior College has small class sizes, lots of technical course offerings, and student support services. You can take classes online or on-campus at LSC or take classes at your high school.

Eligibility

Seniors & Juniors

  • Seniors must rank in the top half of their high school class. If the school does not compute high school rank, students may be admitted on the basis of a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Juniors must rank in the top third of their high school class. If the school does not compute high school rank, students may be admitted on the basis of a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
10th Graders

On-Campus PSEO

  • 10th graders: Must have taken the 8th grade MCA reading test in the 8th grade and have met the composite proficiency level of meets or exceeds.

Honors Online & Concurrent Enrollment

Attend classes at LSC (On-Campus Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO))

The On-Campus Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) program allows high school juniors and seniors in Minnesota high schools and home school students to enroll in college level courses and receive both high school and college credit. You can take LSC classes on-campus or online. It is also available to 10th graders who meet the criteria to enroll in specific Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses.

Attend high school take college classes online (Honors Online)

LSC partners with 16 area high schools offering honors online courses to over 200 students. Honors Online allows high school juniors and seniors to earn both college and high school credit for online classes. The classes are taught by LSC faculty but taken online while you stay at the high school campus.

Take college classes at your high school (Concurrent Enrollment)

LSC partners with 22 area high schools offering over 150 concurrent enrollment courses for college credit. Concurrent Enrollment allows high school juniors and seniors to earn both high school and college credit for classes. These classes are offered through your high school and taught by your high school teacher.

Your steps to enroll

Come to LSC as a PSEO student

Complete and submit the following forms:

  • PSEO Notice of Student Registration Form
  • Guidance Counselor or home school parent form
  • LSC application for admission
  • Transcripts

Deadlines for PSEO applications:

  • Fall Semester – June 10th
  • Spring Semester – December 10th

After you apply, you will be sent a letter with a date and time for your Accuplacer Placement Test. If you are not required to take the Accuplacer, you will be contracted individually regarding your next steps.

Once registered for classes, you will also need to make sure you know how to access your LSC accounts.

Although you do not pay for your textbooks, you will need to go to the LSC Store to pick them up.

Prepare for Honors Online & Concurrent Enrollment classes

Contact your high school counselor to explore offerings and to enroll.

Once registered for classes, you will also need to make sure you know how to access your LSC accounts.
