Step 1: Before applying

Before applying to the LSC nursing program, complete the following steps.

Choose program and start date

Practical nursing

To become a licensed practical nurse (LPN), apply to one of the 40-credit practical nursing programs.

Professional nursing

To become a registered nurse (RN), apply to one of the 64-credit professional nursing programs.

Become an LSC student

Before you begin the LSC nursing application, apply and become an LSC student, if you have not already done so.

Important: Declare Practical Nursing or Professional Nursing as your “Major / program / degree” when you apply. If you don’t do this during the application process, you must meet with an advisor to declare your nursing program.

Note: this does not apply to the CNA / nursing assistant / home health aide program. Apply here to take the nursing assistant course.

Complete nursing pre-program courses and requirements

Complete all “pre-program” requirements / courses specified in your program guide.

Review pre-program requirements in the program guide including:

  • English
  • Reading
  • Math
  • Pre-program courses
  • GPA requirements

Apply while attending pre-program classes?

Professional nursing applicants must have completed all pre-program classes before applying.

Practical nursing applicants may apply while attending pre-program classes. However, updated transcripts and supporting documentation must be provided to the admissions and records office before applications can be processed.

Register for TEAS exam

Create an account on the ATI website. Then register for the TEAS exam.

Choose these options during registration:

  • Practical nursing: Lake Superior PN
  • Professional nursing: Lake Superior College ADN
  • Register for TEAS before using ATI
  • ATI at an Institution

You must register to take the TEAS exam before you apply for the nursing program. You don’t need to take the TEAS until after you apply. But your score will be calculated in your application. You must score above 58.6% to be considered for the nursing program. More details are found in the nursing program application procedure.

It’s easy and convenient to take your ATI test at Lake Superior College. And best of all you get discounted test prices when you schedule your test at LSC!
