New School Year 2010/2011 Information
Welcome Back! The first Saturday Academy is September 25, 2010, 10 am - 3 pm. Orientation, lunch, and Hwy Clean Up is the agenda. Come prepared rain or shine for garbage clean up on Hwy 53. This goes very quickly with the large group of students we have. You may want to bring a rain coat. "Do not wear sandals or flip flops." Backpacks are available for new students. QuestBridge is pleased to announce the launch of the 2010 National College Match program, which will help high-achieving low-income students to gain admission and full four-year scholarships to leading colleges. Sharon Rae Carlson referred you to us as an educator likely to know students who would qualify for our program. We would like to ask you for your help in connecting your qualified students with this opportunity.
Last year, more than 1,000 QuestBridge applicants gained admission to our partner colleges with generous financial aid. 268 of these students received College Match scholarships covering the following costs:
- Full cost of tuition (up to $40,000 per year)
- Full cost of room and board (up to $15,000 per year)
We are pleased to welcome Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia as our newest partner colleges. Our 29 partners include many of the nation's top-ranked universities and liberal arts colleges, such as:
- Amherst College
- MIT
- Pomona College
- Princeton University
- Stanford University
- Yale University
QuestBridge is a non-profit program. Our organization has worked for 16 years to help high-achieving low-income students gain admission and scholarships to top-tier colleges. As a non-profit, we rely on the support of educators like you to make students aware of the opportunities we offer. We would welcome your help in spreading the word to qualified students in any of the following ways:
- Direct students to the QuestBridge website at www.questbridge.org or use the Refer a Student feature linked to our homepage.
- Distribute and post our National College Match flyer, which is available as an electronic download at www.questbridge.org/access/educators.
- Include information about the National College Match in an e-mail to students, or in the appropriate section of your newsletter, website, or other publication. You can access relevant text below or online at www.questbridge.org/access/educators.
- Share this information with other educators who may know qualified students.
The National College Match application is available on our website free of charge and is due on September 30, 2010.
