Admission Criteria & Prerequisites

Dental Hygiene Program
Classes start fall semester.
Students must meet Lake Sperior College admissions criteria as outlined in LSC's gerneral catalog. In addition, admission to the Dental Hygiene Program classes will be determined by the following criteria:

Prior to taking any DENH courses, all pre-technical courses listed on the Dental Hygiene program planner must be completed with a grade of C or better, and an overall G.P.A. of 2.4 or better. Students must complete 20 hours of a shadowing experience in a dental office setting prior to taking any DENH courses.

Effective for Fall 2006, all entering students will need to have a 2.6 cumulative G.P.A. or better in the six dental hygiene pre-requisite courses. If there are more than 18 qualified applicants, priority is given to those who had the pre-requisites completed the earliest with the earliest file completion/program change date for the dental hygiene program. Qualified applicants should be aware that program class sizes are limited, which may delay acceptance into the program.

*Students who have applied and were working on dental hygiene pre-requisites prior to 2004 should see the Director of Admissions for advisement.
