What is Credit for Prior Learning?
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) is a process that provides individuals the opportunity to obtain college credit for college-level knowledge and skills gained outside the classroom through prior work, education, and life experiences by demonstrating their learning.

Learning Experiences that may qualify for CPL  includes training and job related learning (professional training programs, noncredit academic programs, seminars and workshops, coursework from non-accredited post-secondary institutions, and work experience) and other learning experiences (volunteer work, community service, travel, hobbies, interests, and other life expereinces).

WHO is it for?
Those with 5+ years of work experience and a desire for continued academic education.

HOW do I begin and apply for CPL?
Contact the LSC Center for Lifelong Learning.

The staff will work with you to set academic goals and make a plan for accomplishing those goals.

The CLL staff will consult with the appropriate faculty and dean prior to approving the acceptance of CPL toward general education or program requirements.

All credits earned through the CPL process will be recorded on an LSC transcript with a grade of Pass (P), and credits will be applied to a degree, diploma, or certificated at LSC and articulated transfer institutions.

A fee of 50% the cost of tuition per credit is payable prior to the evaluation is not refundable.

Students who enroll in a portfolio development course(s) will have the cost of up to 3 credits of CPL evaluation waived.
