Online Student Delivery Service (OSDS)

The Lake Superior College Library provides delivery of materials to online students. The service is called OSDS (Online Student Delivery Service.) The following information will guide you in using this service.

WHAT IS OSDS?
This service delivers books, copies of articles from journals and magazines owned by the LSC library, and copies of articles or chapters from reference books to LSC online students.

Books and photocopied articles are delivered by U.S. Mail or UPS.

Notice: Requests for photocopies must comply with U.S. Copyright Law as written in U.S. Code, Title 17, Section 201.14.

"The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code), governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be 'used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.' If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of 'fair use,' that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law."

WHO CAN USE OSDS?
This service is provided for students enrolled exclusively in online courses. If you are attending classes on campus at LSC, you are expected to use the library as all other on campus students.
