(Duluth, Minn.,) -- Hmong comedian, storyteller, and rap artist Tou Ger Xiong will take you on a journey of his life from the jungles of Laos to the refugee camps of Thailand to the public housing projects of America. "Bruce Lee Meets Snoop Dogg" is a one-man show that combines explosive energy, humor, folklore, and rap music into an interactive performance that educates about cultural diversity and racial stereotypes. Xiong has been featured on national television and radio and was recently referred to as the "the Hmong version of Chris Rock, Jim Carrey, and Snoop Dogg - all stir-fried into one." He has taken his program to more than 1500 audiences in 44 states in the past 10 years. His message is, "As much as we are different, we are alike. We have no other choice but to learn to get along." Tou Ger Xiong will appear at Lake Superior College, Tou Ger Xiong was born in Laos in 1973. Since Xiong's father served with the CIA, his family had to flee Laos after the Communist takeover in 1975. Xiong's family escaped across the border and sought refuge in a Thai refugee camp. After four years in the camp, Xiong's family immigrated to the United States as refugees of war. LSC provides a wide range of programs and services, including liberal arts and science courses for transfer, technical programs intended to provide occupational skills, continuing education, and customized training for business and industry.
