Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
What is the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant? An FSEOG is for undergraduate students with exceptional financial need-that is, students with the lowest expected family contributions. At Lake Superior College, priority is given to students who receive a Federal Pell Grant and have an expected family contribution of “0”. What’s the difference between an FSEOG and a Federal Pell Grant? Each school participating in the Federal Pell Grant Program will receive enough money to pay the Federal Pell Grant amounts its eligible students qualify for. Every eligible student might not receive an FSEOG, however. Students at each school will be awarded these funds based on availability at the school. Therefore, FSEOG is awarded to students with a “0” expected family contribution on a first-come-first-served basis. How do I apply for an FSEOG Grant? Completing the FAFSA determines your expected family contribution, and therefore also serves as your application for the FSEOG. How much money can I get? Lake Superior College prorates its FSEOG awards based on your attendance level. Full time students are eligible to receive $300 per term. If you are attending 9 – 11 credits, the award will be $200 per term. If you are attending 6 – 8 credits, the award will be $100 per term. How will I be paid? The appropriate award will be placed on your student account after the drop
add period of each term in the academic year. |
