SUCCESS TIPS

Attending college is a lifestyle.  It is critical that you own the responsibility to create that lifestyle!  Advisors are here to help you figure out what that means for you.

Some Easy Strategies...

1) STUDY HALLS: When registering, build "study halls" into your schedule, rather than back to back class times. Multiple blocks of time between classes helps avoid procrastination when you get home...you're already done!

2) ADVERTISE: Let the people in your life know if you have a big test or assignment due.  They can support you if they know you have something big going on at school and need extra quiet time.  Maybe your partner will make dinner that night, maybe your co-workers will take some work off of you that day or let you go early...they can't support you if they don't know!

3) CALENDAR: Your best tool!  Note test & assignment due dates, but also work backwards from those.  Note a "milestone" entry a week before with what should be done by that point (e.g. "test in a week, reading through Chapter 8 done by today" or "paper due in a week, first draft should be started by today").  Sometimes more than one "milestone entry" going backwards further is useful to keep on track.  **Free LSC datebook/planners are available in Student Life.
